
During the Safer Festive Season operation conducted in Mopani District on Tuesday, 11 November 2025, six illegal immigrants were apprehended.
The operation, which took place from 09:00 to 17:00, was executed by members of the Mopani Task Team at the Letsitele policing area, resulting in the apprehension of six male suspects aged between 19 and 32 for contravening the Immigration Act.
A 32-year-old male immigrant was also found in possession of 20 cartons of Royal Express brand cigarettes valued at R8,400.00, and the charge of possession of illicit cigarettes was added against the suspect.
The illicit cigarettes were discovered concealed inside boxes at a supermarket in Tshihoko village.
Furthermore, two illegal male immigrants aged 19 and 26 were arrested at the same village, while the other three illegal male immigrants, aged between 24 and 32, were apprehended at a construction site in Mavele village.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Ritavi Magistrate Court on Thursday, 13 November 2025, facing charges of contravening the Immigration Act and possession of illicit cigarettes.
Police investigations are ongoing.
