A 42-year-old suspect, Suku Makhubela, appeared before the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court today, Wednesday, 05 November 2025, facing a charge of rape.
The incident occurred at Tsantsabela village, Elandskraal, under the Sekhukhune District.
It is alleged that during the early hours of Monday, 03 November 2025, the victim, aged 77, was asleep when the suspect, known to her, broke into her house at around 01:00 and raped her.
Police responded swiftly after being alerted by community members and arrested the suspect shortly thereafter.
The case was postponed to 13 November 2025 for a formal bail application.
