Residents of Sofaya staged a protest outside Ngwanamakhutshwe Secondary School, calling for the dismissal of the principal after several students were arrested. According to reports, the students were taken into custody following an alleged bullying incident that resulted in injuries to one student.
It is alleged that the principal took the victim to file a police report, which led to the arrest of the suspected students. The students appeared before the Lenyenye Magistrate’s Court, where the victim expressed a desire to drop the charges; however, the parents claim that the principal objected, and the students remained in custody.
Parents are criticizing the principal for reportedly not consulting them or informing them about the students’ behavior before filing the police report. They express concerns that their children’s futures are being ruined due to the acquisition of criminal records.
