
Six people, including Rachel Kutumela’s husband who is the principal in one of Moeletsi schools and relatives, have been arrested in connection with alleged murders and insurance claim scams.
Police say the suspects are two brothers, their cousin, a sangoma, Rachel’s husband and another accomplice were arrested on Tuesday 10 March 2026 after investigations linked them to multiple murders connected to insurance payouts.
The case is linked to former police sergeant Rachel Kutumela. It is alleged that the suspects took out life and funeral insurance policies on 10 individuals who were later murdered.
Kutumela was initially arrested in October 2024 while she was still on duty and has since been dismissed from the South African Police Service (SAPS). She remains in custody along with three other accused — her sister, daughter, and older brother.
