Two Eskom Safety Representatives made a brief appearance before the Emalahleni Regional Court, following an intense investigation by the #Hawks Middelburg-based Serious Corruption Investigation team.
The duo, Bongane Masina (43) and Rahab Pulane (45), allegedly took advantage after IZICWE Trucking Company was suspended from Eskom’s Majuba Power Station following an accident involving one of their trucks in September 2024.
According to information, the truck that was en route to Majuba Power Station from the mine to deliver coal suffered a tyre blowout. Whilst the driver was still waiting at the scene, his truck was bumped into by another truck from the mine en route to Majuba Power Station.
The incident led to Eskom suspending the trucking company’s operations pending an internal investigation. Masina and Pulane allegedly took advantage of the situation and approached the truck owner, requesting payment of R30 000.00 so that they could negotiate for the company to be allowed to operate again. The R30 000.00 was deposited into the accounts of the two employees.
The matter was not resolved, but Masina and Pulane allegedly demanded an additional R30 000.00 gratification. Feeling the heavy burden on his shoulders, the trucking company owner decided to report the matter to authorities. The matter was investigated, and the movement of funds linked both Masina and Pulane.
On Thursday, 08 February 2026, both employees were served with notices to appear before court on Friday, 13 February 2026. After a brief court appearance today, the matter was postponed to 26 April 2026.
