BOYNE : A shocking case of sexual assault has led the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) to take decisive action against one of its own, stripping a pastor of his position and banning him from leadership roles.
The 64-year-old clerman, Mochandeni Samuel Sebela, was convicted of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old disabled girl from Namakgale in Phalaborwa.
Following his arrest and subsequent conviction in 2022, the pastor was immediately summoned before the church’s internal disciplinary hearing, where his conduct was examined.
Spokesperson of ZCC Moatshe Ngoepe says they have plans to strengthen the fight against gender-based violence and femicide through education, awareness campaigns, and partnerships with civic organizations.
