Limpopo Premier, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, has expressed deep sadness and shock following the tragic death of Ms Meida Ramuhala, who was found deceased at her sister’s residence on Sunday, 21 December 2025, at Ha-Mudimeli Village in the Nzhelele area.
According to a preliminary police report, Ms Ramuhala was discovered lying inside the yard with visible bruises to her head and face. A 59-year-old male suspect has since been taken in for questioning and law-enforcement agencies have confirmed that investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death are ongoing.
Ms Ramuhala will be remembered as a resilient and courageous woman whose life touched many. She was a beneficiary of the Rural Health Matters Outreach Programme after presenting with a Mandibular Odontogenic Tumour, medically known as Ameloblastoma.
Following a life-changing surgical procedure performed on 27 May 2021, the then MEC for Health, now Premier, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, further facilitated the construction and furnishing of a house for Ms Ramuhala. This intervention restored her dignity and gave her and her only daughter a renewed sense of hope and stability.
“We are deeply saddened by this brutal and heartless act committed against Ms Ramuhala during a time when families should be coming together to celebrate life. Instead, someone chose violence and cruelty, robbing a mother and daughter of their future. We call on law-enforcement agencies to act with speed and diligence to ensure that the perpetrator is brought to book and faces the full might of the law,” said Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba.
The Premier has conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the Ramuhala family, relatives and the community of Ha-Mudimeli Village.
