POLOKWANE: A 43 year-old male suspect was nabbed during a joint operation that was conducted at Ha-Mashau village under Vhembe District for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle on Friday 12 December 2025.
Police received information about the whereabouts of the suspect who was responsible for the theft of a silver Grey BMW X5 SUV that was stolen last week at Waterval policing area and allegedly hidden at Ha-Mashau village.
A joint operation comprising of Levubu Detectives, Waterval police, Thohoyandou Vehicle Identification Safeguarding Unit (VIS), Vhembe Flying Squad and Ṱhohoyaṋdou Tracing Task Team and Vhembe Flying Squad was immediately executed in the area.
Subsequently, a 43 year-old male suspect was found at his residence and the reported silver grey BMW X5 SUV was found parked inside the yard. Police enquired about the ownership of it, but he failed to produce authentic documents and satisfactory responses.
He was immediately placed under an arrest at the scene for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle.
A silver grey BMW X5 SUV valued at R460 000,00. was also seized during his apprehension.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Waterval Magistrate court on Monday 15 December 2025 facing a charge of possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle.
Police investigations are continuing.
