Mliba Police have launched a full-scale search after a 32-year-old man from Boane, Mozambique, drowned while doing laundry with friends at the Nkomazi River.
He reportedly went deeper into the river to fetch water when his container drifted away. As he tried to retrieve it, he was overpowered by the strong current.
Police were alerted and the REPS Scuba Team began a search and rescue mission, but fading light forced them to pause operations yesterday.
Search efforts have resumed today, with REPS divers and the fire department combing the river as they work to locate the missing man.
