A 23 years old male known as Mukhethwa Masindi from Makatu village was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Dzanani Regional court.
This followed after the Court heared that in 2019 November the 23rd at around 16:00 at Makatu village a then 13 years old girl was walking past a soccer field when she and her friend met the accused. He pulled the victim to a nearby bush and her friend ran away and he further raped her. The 13 years old girl went home and reported the matter to her sister who then reported the matter to the police at Siloam.
The accused was arrested the following day on the 24th November 2019. The case was transferred to Thohoyandou Family Violence Child Protection Sexual Offences Unit for further investigation.
The docket was allocated to Sergeant Phumodzo Nemafhohoni.
The case was initially struck off the roll pending DNA and later reinstated after receiving positive DNA results, where the accused was re-arrested until he was found guilty on Monday 17 November 2025 and sentenced to Life Imprisonment and further declared unfit to possess a firearm.
Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has applauded the arresting officers and the Investigator for conducting a thorough investigation which led to this heavy sentence against this rapist.
