An Acornhoek forum member has been arrested by the police after a tipper truck driver was prevented from driving on the R40 near Acornhoek mall in Mpumalanga on Friday, 14 November 2025. It is alleged that a group of men stopped a truck driver near the mall who was traveling from Phalaborwa to Nelspruit and told him that he must no longer use the R40 road again.
It is believed that it was the second time the driver was stopped and threats were made against him and his employer. It is alleged that one of the twelve men told the driver that his company must appoint three local drivers from the community and pay a protection fee before their company’s fleet can be allowed to use the R40. He was told to contact his bosses to come to the area so that the appointment of three local drivers can be finalized.
The Acornhoek police were alerted and a member of the forum was arrested at his business premises after he was found in possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition. He will appear at the Acornhoek Magistrate Court on Tuesday, 18 November 2025.
