
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has reiterated that SAPS is not home for those who are helbent on breaking the law . This was in response to the direct imprisonment sentencing imposed against a former member of police by Tzaneen Regional Court.
The Provincial Commissioner has
welcomed the Judgement handed down by Tzaneen Rigional Court for sentencing of former Sergeant Rodney Humbulani Mushidzi,46 to five years direct imprisonment for corruption in Bolobedu Policing area.
The court noted that on Tuesday, 23 January 2024, the Provincinal Anti-Corruption unit received a complaint from the victim about a Police Sergeant who demanded money from the father of the suspect to assist him in withdrawing a case of reckless and negligence driving against his sons. An inquiry was registered. On Friday, 24 January 2024, an operation in terms of section 252 (a) was obtained subsequently to his arrest after receiving the money, R1000,00 (one thousand rands) from the victim.
The accused person appeared several times at court until he was found guilty by Tzaneen Regional court on Tuesday, 30 September 2025.
The accused man Rodney Humbulani Mushidzi (46) was sentenced to five years direct imprisonment for corruption on Tuesday, 11 November 2025.
