Twenty armed suspects bombed empty ATM and subsequently killed an Ethiopian citizen

Mokwakwaila police are investigating four counts of crime; murder, attempted murder, malicious damage to property and business robbery.

It is alleged that on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at about 1:10 a.m., about 20 suspects entered the Makoti filling station in the village of Ga-Ramotshinyadi outside Tzaneen armed with firearms and bombed the ABSA ATM which is located in the Filling station.

According to the police, after the suspects bombed the ATM and did not find any money, they entered the bakery next to the petrol station, and found the Ethiopian nationals, they assaulted them demanding money.

“They also went to their residential apartments and ransacked the place. Three Ethiopian nationals were wounded.

“Other Ethiopian nationals came with their cars and they were hit with a hail of bullets, as a result, an Ethiopian national received a fatal bullet to the head and died at the scene.

“The wounded were taken to hospital to receive medical care. At the scene of the crime, more than 62 empty 9mm cartridges and 1 for short gun were found scattered.
