The MEC for Public Works,Road and Infrastructure Mr Dickson Masemola has today, 21 October 2021, embarked on a project site visit pertaining to Kremetart to Phalaborwa road in Giyani.
Following a video clip that went viral on social media questioning the quality of work being done.The video clip prompted the MEC responsible for roads to embark on a project site visit tour to follow through this complaint.
The site visit was rounded off by a meeting of the stakeholders involved in the construction of the road including the affected traditional councils.
The MEC was accompanied by GGM Mayor Cllr Basani Shibambu, MDM MMC for Roads and Transport Cllr Japisa Mathonsi, GGM Roads and Maintenance head Cllr Sasavona Mathebula, GGM Infrastructure head Cllr Baloyi Tintswalo and GGM Chief Whip amongst others.
Addressing the meeting MEC Masemola assured stakeholders that his department will not tolerate shoddy work. Emphasising that those responsible to quality check the work should do so delligently.
“Coming out of this meeting I can safely state that the challenges are not as big as I anticipated coming here, given the video clip. However, whatever snags identified will be addressed promptly and the quality will not be compromised,” MEC concluded.
