Limpopo has thus far managed to vaccinate 46 460 educators and support staff out of a target of 61 572. This was done over a period of three days, that is 25 to 26 June and 02 July 2021.
The Provincial Department of Health will be opening 37 vaccination sites for inoculation of the remaining on Friday, 09 July 2021. This is a part of a mop-up process to cater for those who are still not vaccinated, such as eligible educators and support staff whose details were not appearing on the Electronic Vaccination Data System (EVDS) last week, those who had previously tested positive for Covid-19 and were not cleared for vaccination by 02 July, and others with unspecified reasons.
Scheduling of where and when staff members should present themselves for vaccination is still done through district and circuit offices of the Department of Education. Information on allocated timeslots and vaccination sites is then sent to schools for communication to staff.
MEC for Education, Polly Boshielo continues to urge educators and staff who are scheduled for tomorrow, to drop all and vaccinate. “Covid-19 continues to wreak havoc on our way of life. Our provision of Education has been immensely disrupted and the anxiety caused by daily rising infection numbers is overwhelming. Vaccination is our best defense at this point and that is why we will never get tired of encouraging everyone who has an opportunity to vaccinate to do so. We once again urge our educators and staff who are still to receive their jabs to drop all, and vaccinate as scheduled, ” said MEC Boshielo.
