Police investigations house robbery àt mayor house

The joint Team of Detectives from the Provincial office and the Waterberg District is still hard at work tracing the remaining suspects involved in the attack and robbery of the house of one of the Municipal Mayors in the Waterberg District in Limpopo province on Sunday, 14 February 2021 at about 20h00.

Police call upon Nthabiseng Rosina Lerumo aged 46, on the attached Photos, from Gauteng Province, to visit Lephalale Police Station or the nearest Police Station in order to assist with investigations in this matter.

The first two arrested suspects in this matter, Joao Antonio Lucas aged 38 and Portia Kgama aged 34, have already appeared before the Phalala magistrate court outside Lephalale on the 15 April 2021.

Joao Antonio Lucas who is still expected to appear in several magistrate courts in the KwaZulu-Natal Province on similar offences, was denied bail and his case was postponed to 31 May 2021 for further police investigations.

Meanwhile, the second suspect Portia Kgama was also remanded in custody until 21 April 2021, for bail application and for further police investigations.

It is alleged that four (04) unknown armed men accompanied by two (02) women driving with in three (03) cars, stopped at the gate of the Mayor’s house and asked the security guard to see the Mayor but before he could respond, they attacked him, entered the house and also tied everybody inside the house before they ransacked the entire house.

Subsequently, they stole a Toyota Legend 45 and fled the scene but the car was later found abandoned along Lebu road in the Tomburke policing area outside Lephalale.

The suspects disappeared with a white Toyota Fortuner, a navy blue VW Polo and another unidentified car. The security guard was then taken to the hospital for medical treatment with serious injuries.

During the arrest, one of the cars used by the suspects on the day of the incident, a VW Polo was seized.
