The police in Tomburke outside Lephalale are looking for the suspect who allegedly shot and killed a Security Guard in the guardroom at the weigh bridge which is situated along the N11 road next to Groblersbrug border post. The deceased’s body was found this morning with a bullet wound.
Two Security Officers allegedly reported for night duty at about 18h00 last night, Thursday 18 March 2021 and during their routine change of reliefs this morning, the victim was allegedly found dead in the guardroom by other colleagues. His service pistol was missing and his colleague was nowhere to be found.
The police were called and immediately commenced with the necessary follow ups. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, at the time that he was supposed to be at work, was allegedly seen at Sefihlilo village at around 04h00 this morning.
It is believed that the suspect might have shot and killed his colleague, took his firearm and fled the scene. It is also believed that he might have fled to Protea Glen in Soweto, Gauteng Province.
The deceased has been identified as Matshembe Mphambanyene aged 40.
The police are calling on Meluzu Andison Khumalo (pictured below), reportedly from Protea Glen, Soweto to avail himself at the nearest police station as it is believed he can be able to assist in the investigations.
