The Class of 2020 matriculants get their long waited results.The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) announced the private schools’ matric results at 12am last night.
The 2020 IEB pass rate is 98.07%, slightly down from 98.82% last year. Of those candidates who passed, 88.42% (89.51% in 2019) achieved entry to degree study; 8.14% (7.91% in 2019) qualified for entry to diploma study; and 1.51% (1.4% in 2019) achieved entry for study at the higher certificate level.
Independent Examination Board’s (IEB) CEO Anne Oberholzer says the 98.07% pass rate is commendable because of the challenges learners and teachers experienced in 2020. The IEB 2020 NSC pass rate is slightly lower than last year’s 98.82% pass rate.
The Basic Education Department will release the state National Senior Certificate (NSC) matric exam results on 22 February 2020 and Minister of Basic Education is expected to announce the results.
The Council for Quality Assurance in Education and Training (Umalusi) has given their stamp of approval for the release 2020 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations.Umalusi monitored the marking and results and declared the exams to be fair and valid.
