Mayor except memorandum from Mulati village residents

A delegation of the Greater Tzaneen Municipality led by Mayor Maripe Mangena today reached an agreement with residents of Mulati to end the weeklong service delivery protest linked to the Mulati Access Road project. Residents of Mulati had barricaded the R529 for several days in protest about the delays in the completion of the project to upgrade the Mulati Access Road. The project is a subject of litigation at the Limpopo Division of the High Court in Polokwane.

Both parties have conceded that there is not much that they can do as the matter is still before the High Court. They have agreed to meet as soon as Judge Phatudi delivers the judgement on the matter to map a way forward.

Residents have consented to immediately end the protest and reopen the road. A TLB has already been dispatched to Mulati to remove rocks and trees spread across a 4km stretch of the road.
