After a successful week of clearing surgical backlogs in Vhembe district, natural disasters have caused infrastructural damage at the Tshilidzini Hospital. This after one of the oldest but beautiful trees in the hospital fell due to the recently experienced windstorms and heavy rainfall. The tree has damaged the already ailing infrastructure at the hospital. The affected infrastructure includes the passage between the kitchen and male ward. No patient or staff member has been affected by this disaster. The department will dispatch the team from infrastructure unit to inspect the damage and immediately start with the repairs.
Tshilidzini hospital is one of those facilities earmarked by the National department of health to receive a new building through the National Health Insurance infrastructure grant.
