Inquest docket after a man was found hanging on a roof

The Police in Seshego outside the City of Polokwane are investigating a case of drowning following the discovery of the lifeless bodies of two boys who reportedly drowned at Blood River, Thakgalang village outside Seshego this afternoon, on 06 November  2020, at about 16:00.

The deceased aged five(05) and seven(07), were allegedly playing next to a small dam when they decided to swim without any supervision and ultimately drowned.

Later on, their families noticed that the boys are nowhere to be found and the matter was reported to the Police who reacted swiftly and subsequently, the Saps Search and Rescue Team and the EMS were also notified and managed to retrieve the bodies from the dam with the support from the local community. The inquest case was opened for further investigations.

The circumstances around this incident is a subject of the ongoing Police investigations.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has reiterated his appeal to all members of the community especially parents and guardians, to double their efforts on child safety in and around rivers and dams as we are in the rainy season, to prevent this type of incidents to occur.
