Another transformer was stolen and the borehole vandalised at Bismark village on Monday. A case of theft and vandalism has been reported to Maake SAPS.
The Executive Mayor has called on communities to close ranks and isolate criminals. “We are worried that these acts of criminality undermine our efforts to ensure consistent water supply to our people. We must not allow criminals to thrive in our communities. Let us work together to safeguard our water infrastructure and other government property.
“We must ensure that we have functional community policing forums in all our wards in the district, and also support their work. We are also making an appeal to our communities to share information that will assist the law enforcement authorities as they proceed with investigations.”
